Steampunk Valentine Hop

Welcome to my stop on the hop. I had really big plans for the hop. I have slowly been falling in love with all things steampunk and planned to whip out an absolutely stunning steampunk creation. I wanted to make a steampunk necklace for my darling daughter. Unfortuantely, I forgot I am not a jewelry maker. I ended up with an altered domino that hints at steampunk, but is no where near what I had imagined. It was a pain to photograph because of the mottled alcohol inks. It just didn't want to focus, but here is a peek.

When that didn't seem to come together, I decide I was going to make a steampunk inspired card. I found the perfect stamps on ebay and ordered them. Silly me, I forgot I am not much of a card maker and the stamps didn't show up on time. I should have ordered from Viva Las Vegas stamps. They have positively yummy steampunk stamps and they would have gotten here on time. So, there is no card to show a picture of at this time. For those of you who don't know two weeks ago today Gypsy (my daughter's rat terrier) had a run in with the lab and her eye popped out. She had to have surgery on her eye and she became our steampunk puppy. With the victorian collar and the tubing stitched around her eye she looks like something steampunk. I decided to share our poor steampunk puppy's story. I thought a scrapbook page with "We Love Our Steampunk Puppy" as the title would be perfect. I started creating and had this vision of a big steampunk heart. What do you think? It is so now steampunk wonderful. It looks way to cutesy. At least the dog isn't way too cutesy. Maybe she looks a little more steampunk...

I decided I have a long way to go before I become a master steampunk artist. With a bunch of work maybe I can pull off something wonderfully steampunk. Oh, I almost forgot the best part of a blog hop... blog candy. Since I wasn't smart enough to order from Viva las Vegas stamps, I think I will give away a $10 gift card to order some of their awesome stamps. All you have to do is leave me a comment. Tell me what I need to do to master this steampunk genre. You don't have to become a follower, but I sure would be glad if you did.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you soon.

Oh I m so sad to hear about your daughters dog... I am a dog lover and it is so hard when our fur babies are hurt. Now for your Steampunk creativity... I think you are on your way! That domino would make a great necklace... All you need is a bail at the top and you can put a chain through it!!! Your heart for your fur babe's layout will be great... Enjoy Steampunk and you are right Viva Las Vegastamps! has the best Steampunk stamps!!! Someone will be luck to get your gift certificate!

Awww..poor steampunk pup! Although i would LOVE to see the finished Steampunk Puppy page - that is a great idea! the term steampunk has been applied to so many things sometimes I think it is hard to find out what it really means. For me - anything antique metal, rusty, and with that Victorian vibe counts as Steampunk (ok, and gears and clocks too!). Make it grungy and let your imagination steer you!!

Awww, poor little pup. I'm sorry he was hurt, but I'm glad to hear he's on the mend.

As for steampunk, well, I can't help you there. I'm still working on it myself. If you ever find the secret, let me know. :)

Poor steampunk puppy! I hope she's doing well! I love your heart, and even though the photo of the domino isn't great, I think it looks like it is fantastic. I totally relate to how the vision for a project is hard to match in reality. So many dreams of mine end up in the trashcan, lol!

Ahh poor Gypsy - give her a hug from a doggy lover in Virginia named Kitty (ironic huh? Kitty /doggy LOL)

Anyway love how your domino and the heart turned out. I have never really done any Steampunk but the Blog Hop certainly has me inspired

Awww! Gypsy makes a wonderful steampunk pup! I hope you will post a pic of your scrapbook page when you have it completed. You've got a good beginning with your heart of gears. Just add a little bit of Victorian flair and you're there! {Gypsy's collar might qualify! 8^)} I think your domino is very pretty and could be a nice embellishment for your page, too. Have fun!

Your poor steampunk puppy :(
I'm glad Gypsy is OK.
I LOVE your Domino. I think your Steampunk wortk looks great (my ideas never translate to what the finished object looks like). Don't be afraid to combine different steampunk objects~combining paper with metal, clay, etc. Play with your ideas and have FUN!!

I love your domino and the colors you used. I appreciate you posting something that you don't feel completely happy with. Like Lisa said, enjoy the journey. I can relate to that because I also get too focused on the goal. Just play. It's ok!
