A Huge Announcement....

I have been so excited and I couldn't tell anyone. It is finally the day and I can tell everyone. Guess who made the Hobby Baby Design Team? ME!!!! That's who! I am thrilled to be on the team. I hope you will go to our facebook page and "like" Hobby Baby. Not that I can see the future or anything, but I can see coupons in your future if you do like the page. LR Earth Day Blog Hop

Welcome to my Earth Day Blog post. I have the extreme pleasure of being part of Leslie Rahye's Earth day Blog Hop. She is kind enough to make a link where we can't get lost along the hop. Just click on the next designer and hop in any order you like.

I am sharing with you a recycle sign I made out of all recycled, reused, or up-cycled items. I made the sign for a friend to friend to hang in her classroom. She also happens to be my son's science teacher and has all the kids recycling. She has recycling bins in her classroom and I thought it would be cute to hang by the bins.

 The sign was created from an old cereal box. I cut the cereal box on my cricut. I then took a piece of paper that I hated. It was never going to end up in one of my scrapbooks. It had a solid white back, so I used it wisely. I cut it on the cricut too. I then inked it with Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, and Peeled Paint distress inks. The letters were used on a project board my daughter used for school. I couldn't see throwing them away, so I tore them off. It left a few rough spots where a bit of white was showing, so I went around the edges of the letters with a brush marker. It filled in the white spots and gave it a distressed look.

 The flowers are made out of Dr. Pepper cans. I very carefully cut open a couple of cans and ran them through my Vagabond with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die. I then used alcohol inks to color the petals. I had two glittery brads that were too bright. I toned it down with some distress walnut stain.

The rhinestones were some that had fallen off of a cup my child decorated some time ago. I saved the gems even though they weren't sticky anymore. I just glued them on with some Scotch Quick dry Adhesive.

I think you can see all three colors of the distress inks swirled together.

Would You ever Guess Wednesday

It is Would You Ever Guess Wednesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. Creative function keys on our Cricuts and use cuts from the right side of the handbook. 

I decided to make a little sign for my desk that has one of my favorite sentiments on it. This was a fun projects to make. I did decide to add ribbon and hang it on the wall, as you will never see it on my messy desk. I used Designer's Calendar pg 47 and cut the Script Shadow image at 4", 4 1/2", and 5" from a cereal box. I used my Deep cut Housing blade that you can order from Erica HERE . I then cut the paper the same way. Isn't this paper adorable? It is BoBunny and also available in eErica's store HERE. The 4" piece was cut from a light pink cardstock. I used VersaMark-Dew-Drop-Perfect-Plumeria to stamp the sentiment. I wanted a disorderly feel, so I made these wacky flowers using Designer's Calendar pg 35 Script Shadow Shift image which is actually a sun. I used Versa mark jumbo java around the edges as it gives it a more finished look. I layered the three pieces using foam popdots. I scattered some gems around the surface for a playful messy look. The last thing I added was Crystal Stickles. What I love about them is that they pick up the colors around them. For instance, right above the T in the I made a dot of crystal stickles. It looks almost clear or a very pale pink. In the corners of the polka dotted papers, there is a series of aqua looking dots. Those are also the same color crystal stickles. It picks up the aqua in the paper. It was a fun little project to make and I hope you enjoy it.
